Let’s Talk Videographers

Having a wedding video has become increasingly popular over recent years and when I say wedding video I don’t mean like the one of mum and dads wedding that Uncle Jim took on his ‘video camera’. I’m talking professionally filmed video content!

The average cost of wedding videographer in the UK varies, with start-up shooters offering to film for free in return for a place on a vendors list or for a very small amount of money. In contrast you have videographers with a wealth of experience who will charge anything from £2000-£4000.

But how can you be sure to make the right choice when choosing a videographer for your wedding?

I often get asked if we have a videographer in house or know of someone we can recommend. Maverick Weddings is someone we will often refer to. Our friend Pete has a wealth of experience and is always a lot of fun!

Why have a videographer for your wedding day?

If you ask almost any couple what they remember about their special day, they’ll probably tell you that most of it was just one big blur. The best way to relive your special day is to re-watch your special day.

A professionally produced wedding film is the ultimate way of capturing the very essence of your very special day – a movie of memories that you can share with family and friends, children and grandchildren for years to come. Many of my couples will often say that their children go over to the TV cabinet and ask to watch “little me at the wedding”.

Your wedding video captures the emotions, the people and events of a wedding day. It’s not just all about the video, it also matters about who you choose! You will be spending the majority of your special day with your CHOSEN photographer and videographer, so it's pretty important that you get on!

For Me personally…..I have been a full time professional wedding videographer since early 2020, however ever since the age of 10 I have had a passion for filmmaking. As soon as mobile phones had functioning video cameras built in, I started making videos.

My style of wedding videography is very relaxed and fun, we go for the unscripted feel, nothing too overly posed or staged. I absolutely love to get all you friends and family involved and create a memorable day for everyone!

The little details of your wedding are important, right from the smile on your father’s face as he sees you in your dress for the first time, down to the tears of laughter as your best man embarrasses the groom during his speech.

I like to get to know each of my couples and those who are close to them, this makes a real difference on the day, we are certainly not afraid to be one of the group, getting involved and joking with everyone during the wedding, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere. So when it comes to filming all the antics, the groom isn't worried about being thrown in the air by all his mates and the bride pops on those shades and sprays that champagne like she's just won the F1! I LOVE MY JOB!

Just as one piece of advice I would give any couple thinking about booking a videographer for their wedding day; really try to do your research. Don't just be guided by price, go to the videographers' social media, see their reviews, ask what is exactly in their packages and look at any Behind the scenes footage (if they have any…this is something I do) to see how they are on the day of the wedding!

After all….It's one of the most impactful moments of your life and you are making an investment for a lifetime.
